There are moments in life that deserve a pause.
Today was one of them.
As I stood in the middle of an empty room, surrounded by bare walls and quiet echoes, I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude. Not because this chapter is ending, but because of everything this home gave us while we were here.
This house wasn’t just a place we lived.
It became the place where we healed.
When I first unlocked the front door years ago, I was a newly divorced single mama of three. I had my children full time, a heart full of uncertainty, and no idea what the future would look like. Like so many women navigating an unexpected season of life, I was simply trying to make it through one day at a time.
I didn’t have all the answers. I didn’t have a perfect plan. I just knew that my children needed a safe place to land, and so did I.
This home became exactly that.
The Walls That Witnessed It All
If walls could talk, these ones would have stories to tell.
They witnessed tears that no one else saw. They heard late-night prayers whispered after the kids had gone to bed.
They held laughter that echoed through every room during birthdays, holidays, family dinners, and ordinary Tuesday nights that somehow became unforgettable memories.
They saw first dates that filled me with nervous excitement, broken hearts that reminded me healing isn’t always easy, and friendships that carried me through some of life’s hardest seasons.
These walls watched our family grow, not just in age, but in strength.
Becoming Her Again
Somewhere between the school drop-offs, grocery runs, bedtime routines, and endless laundry, something unexpected happened.
I found myself again.
Not overnight. Not all at once. But little by little.
This is the house where I built a business from my kitchen table after the kids were asleep. I poured my heart into recipes, stories, and creating a space online where people felt welcomed around the table.
I never imagined that sharing simple meals and pieces of my everyday life would grow into the incredible community it has become. You all changed my life.
What started as a creative outlet became a career. What started as followers became friends. What started as recipes became a place where people gathered, encouraged one another, and reminded me that none of us are meant to walk through life alone.
For that, I will always be grateful.
Watching My Children Grow
One of the hardest parts about leaving this house isn’t saying goodbye to the walls.
It’s saying goodbye to the memories that happened inside them.
This is where I watched my boys become kind, hardworking, independent young men. Somewhere between backpacks and graduation caps, little boys became adults.
And my daughter…She isn’t that little girl anymore. Watching her grow into the beautiful, compassionate young woman she is becoming has been one of life’s greatest gifts.
People often say the days are long but the years are short. They’re right. The years somehow disappear while you’re busy living them.
More Than Boxes
As I packed room after room this week, I realized something. I wasn’t just packing dishes, picture frames, and furniture. I was packing seasons of life.
Memories. Lessons. Heartbreak. Healing. Growth. Gratitude.
Every box held a piece of our story.
Every empty room reminded me just how far we’ve come.
The Woman Walking Out
The woman leaving this house isn’t the same woman who walked in.
She is stronger. More confident. More grateful. More at peace. Not because life became easy, but because every challenge taught her something she couldn’t have learned any other way.
Sometimes we don’t realize we’re healing until we look back and see how different we are from the person we used to be.
That’s exactly how this goodbye feels.
Bittersweet.
Beautiful.
Full of hope.
A New Chapter Begins
As emotional as it is to close this chapter, I know with all my heart that God isn’t finished writing our story.
Ahead of us is a slower pace. Wide open skies. Family dinners around a new table. A home we’ll fill with laughter, traditions, and new memories. A place where our blended family can continue growing together.
A fresh start we’ve prayed about for a very long time.
Leaving doesn’t erase the memories. It simply makes room for new ones.
Thank You
To every single one of you who has walked this journey with me, thank you. You’ve celebrated our victories, prayed through our struggles, cried alongside us, and cheered us on every step of the way.
You have become so much more than an online community. You’ve become family.
Thank you for allowing me to share my life, my home, and my heart with you.
I’ll always be grateful for the house that held us. But I’m even more grateful for the life that was built inside it.
Here’s to honoring where we’ve been…while joyfully stepping into where we’re going.
Texas… we’re coming home. ❤️
